• Strengthen
the feeble hands, steady the knees that
give
way; say
to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong,
do not fear; your God will come, he will
come with vengeance; with divine retribution
he will come to save you."
Isaiah 35:3-4 (NIV)
To paraphrase the same scriptural truth
as it is quoted in Hebrews 12:12-13—we “strengthen
the feeble arms and weak knees” of those who need to be lifted up, and “make
level paths for the feet” of those needing direction in order to fulfill
their God-given potential.
• Behold,
I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves;
so be wise as serpents
and innocent
as doves.
Matthew 10:16 (RSV)
Having sent His followers as sheep facing wolves, Jesus directs His disciples
to expect opposition and persecution and therefore to be wise (shrewd, prudent) as serpents and innocent (harmless) as doves.
